EVERY LITTLE DETAIL HELPS
Bring the messages.
Keep the memories.
Start with one conversation. Export from each app you used together, then add the files to the same book. Never send us a password or your entire account backup if you can export just your conversation.
- Open the conversation on your phone.
- iPhone: tap the person’s name, then look for Export Chat. Android: open the three-dot menu → More → Export chat.
- Choose Include media / Attach media if you want voice notes, photos and videos included. Choose without media for a smaller text-only export.
- Save the export to Files or your computer. Keep the TXT and attachments together in the exported ZIP. If they arrive separately, put them in a folder and compress the folder into a ZIP.
- Upload the ZIP here. Check the first and last dates in the import review. WhatsApp may include only a portion of older media; export availability varies.
Messenger
Messenger can have two separate sets of history: older account data and newer encrypted message storage. Check both if your export seems incomplete.
- On a computer, open Messenger through Facebook. Look in Privacy & safety → End-to-end encrypted chats → Message storage for Download message storage data. Menu wording can differ.
- Follow Meta’s own identity/PIN steps there. Never enter your PIN on Chatbound.
- For older history, open Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Export/Download your information. Choose the Facebook profile, select Messages, the date range you want, and JSON rather than HTML.
- Download the archive when Meta finishes. Keep JSON and media folders together. Prefer a ZIP of just the relevant conversation folder.
- If you upload an archive with several chats, select only yours in our import review. Unselected messages are not sent to the AI.

- In Instagram settings, open Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Export/Download your information.
- Select your Instagram profile, then select messages and the date range. Choose JSON.
- Download the ZIP when ready. Keep the conversation JSON and media together.
- Upload it and select the right conversation. Shared reels often export as a URL, not a playable video.
Telegram
- Use Telegram Desktop. Open your conversation’s menu and choose Export chat history.
- Choose Machine-readable JSON. Include photos, voice messages and videos if you want them considered.
- Compress the exported folder, including result.json and its media, into a ZIP.
- Upload the ZIP. Use a single-chat export; whole-account Telegram exports are not supported in this beta.

What about voice notes and reels?
Voice notes: exports usually contain audio files, not a reliable ready-made transcript. We transcribe attached audio during full-book generation and label it as machine-transcribed. An “audio omitted” message contains no sound to recover.
Photos: AI describes included images linked to selected messages. It does not identify unknown people. Two optional portraits are used separately as illustration references.
Videos: we inspect three frames and transcribe an available audio track. This is a sample, not an understanding of every frame.
Reels and shared posts: we preserve links and nearby messages. We do not sign in to social accounts, fetch private links or infer what an unavailable reel showed. Add a short explanation in the context box if the reel mattered.
Beta limits per book: 8 exports, 250 MB per file, 500 MB combined upload, 1 GB expanded ZIP content, 1 million characters of selected chat, 40 linked images, 120 minutes of audio and 10 videos (up to 10 minutes each). Anything skipped is listed in the coverage report. Deleted, disappearing, view-once or omitted content cannot be reconstructed.
Before you continue
Check the selected people, dates and message count. Keep originals on your own device. Remove information you do not want processed. Our export guides describe common menus; app versions and account settings may differ.
